# OBS Connections

> Manage connections between your overlays and OBS browser sources. Live sync and connection controls.

## What are Connections?

Connections link your Vision overlays to where they're displayed - OBS browser sources, standalone browsers, or the Vision editor. Each device that loads your overlay creates a connection, allowing you to manage and control them.

## Viewing Connections

## Connection Types

| Type        | Icon | Description                  |
| ----------- | ---- | ---------------------------- |
| **OBS**     | 📺   | Browser source in OBS Studio |
| **Browser** | 🌐   | Standalone browser window    |
| **Editor**  | ✏️   | The Vision editor preview    |

## Connection Information

Each connection shows:

* **Device name** - Identifier for the connection
* **Connection type** - OBS, browser, or editor
* **Status** - Recording, streaming, or idle (for OBS)
* **Live sync status** - Whether real-time updates are enabled

### OBS Status Indicators

When connected to OBS, Vision can detect:

* 🔴 **Recording** - OBS is recording
* 📡 **Streaming** - OBS is live
* 📷 **Virtual camera** - Virtual camera is active
* ⏪ **Replay buffer** - Replay buffer is running

## Live Sync

Live Sync pushes changes from the editor to connected devices in real-time.

### Enabling Live Sync

1. Open **Connections** in the editor
2. Find the connection you want to sync
3. Toggle **Live Sync** on

### When to use Live Sync

* **During setup** - See changes instantly while designing
* **Live adjustments** - Make tweaks during a stream
* **Collaboration** - Multiple editors see changes in real-time

### When to disable Live Sync

* **Performance** - Reduce bandwidth during streams
* **Stability** - Prevent accidental changes going live

## Managing Connections

### Renaming Connections

Give connections descriptive names:

1. Click on a connection
2. Enter a custom name (e.g., "Main OBS", "Preview Monitor")

### Blocking Connections

Prevent a device from displaying your overlay:

1. Find the connection in the list
2. Click **Block**
3. The connection will be disconnected

### Reloading Connections

Force a connection to refresh:

1. Find the connection
2. Click **Reload**
3. The overlay reloads on that device

## Tips

  **Disable Live Sync** on your main stream connection during live broadcasts to prevent accidental changes from appearing.

  **Use the editor connection** for testing changes before pushing them to your live OBS connection.
